The DCF895 is compact, it features three speed and torque settings, and its brushless motor provides for plenty of power and runtime. This is basically the same Makita impact that's been around since at least 2007. Don't be fooled by the macho-man feeling you get when you effortlessly sink a big screw.

- I need to test more right angle impacts before I could create a "best" category for them, but the RAID would definitely at least be mentioned as a "budget" recommendation.

While its performance is pro level all around, it earned its highest ranking with the 6″ lag bolt as one of the six to completely drive it. My 18V impact driver is old enough that the M12 Fuel version has more torque, weighs half as much (not even taking into account battery weight) and drives screws in faster. Battery: 18V NiCad (2) Though not as powerful as most of the other 18-volt models, this driver has plenty of torque for all but the toughest jobs—and a crazy-low price tag. It also started to expose just how much effort some of the drivers were having to put out in the form of heat. This feature is not available right now. The difference is how they transfer torque from the motor to the chuck.
