I will look at this in a later test. After using ICE you only have to spot the image for larger dust areas which ICE can not handle. You shouldn't give up on Vuescan though... No connection problems, make sure the dip switches is set to firewire (on the back of the scanner). If you're using Windows and you've installed a Minolta driver, VueScan's built-in drivers won't conflict with this. Download.com cannot completely ensure the security of the software hosted on third-party sites. Then I heard about VueScan.

It might seem that this scanner is very noisy, but please remember that this is a very dark Velvia slide and noise can always be reduced using multi-sampling which this scanner It's just a great shame that I couldn't get Vuescan to work.

The Minolta web site suggests someAdapteccards that can be used, but I took a chance and bought a very inexpensive card calledACARD AEC-6710Sfor about $30. Today, I installed the software for my Minolta Dimage 5400 I, but when I attempted to run it, an error message popped up saying there were no drivers available. As I live in Australia, the problem is further compounded.For all those hard working and dedicated gurus, who have made the .inf files compatible with Win7 and Vista.
