The most recent ability that I've learned that 10.11.1 can't do anymore is read SD media cards (the last capability I've discovered that no longer works correctly in 10.11.1 is Spotlight I have a new camera (NIKON-COOLPIX L11) I also bought a card reader from the camera shop. I'm not familiar with sim cards used in that context but maybe you can take it back to radio shack and get another model--maybe not an 'all in one' type.
