I found that the MIDI driver that installs with the Digidesign (Pro Tools) core audio driver 9.0 r3 was breaking Garage Band to the point it would lock up during boot Which has me curious because according to digi, 10.7.4 is compatible with Pro Tools 9.0.6, which I would think would include digidiomididriver.plugin compatibility. When I tried to open the Stand-alone drivers in Lion, it said I was missing some components and opened a webpage that allowed me to download the missing components from the Digi 003 Pro Tools 12 My Digi 002 Rack is not recognized as a CoreAudio device on Lion 10.7.2, either.
I also have acopy of Protools MP 9 which unfortunately is not compatible with the Digi 002 rack, installed on the Mac. Digi 002 Pro Tools 12 I used the "latest" driver: Standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Drivers v8.0.3 for Leopard and Snow Leopard . And to me it s the most important thing : i need the extra 8 inputs and mainly use the digital mixer convertors instead of the digi 002 convertors. http://secure.digidesign.com/services/avid/kb/downloads.cfm?digiArticleId=42492 AFAIK, the Core Audio driver is different - but I could be dead wrong, I haven't used many non-HD PT rigs.
If you are installing Pro Tools 7.4.2 for Mac OS X 10.5.3, you should use the Digidesign CoreAudio included with your Pro Tools installation, not the standalone version. While it CAN work, there are dozens of much better choices out there. That's the M-Audio driver - which already works. BUT I have a rack version too, so I'll use that one instead, with the Agogee Ensamble hooked up as ADAT.
